Call Arthur Cawley the historian of Christ Church in Harrison and he’ll dismiss it. It’s just that the 83-year-old has worshipped at the church since he was 10 years old, more than half the existence of the Episcopal congregation founded in 1883. On his second Sunday at the church, he became an acolyte – altar server – and rose to become the warden, or lay leader.

He remembers when there were three Sunday services and 100 people would fill the beautiful, intimate church, and there would be all kinds of societies and activities..
