4 Murray came through with a golden goal early in overtime to knock off region rival and top-seeded Layton Christian Academy also by a 3-2 scoreline. The Riverhawks (15-2) and Spartans (15-2) will square off for all the marbles Thursday at 10 a.m.
at Real Salt Lake’s America First Field. This will be Ridgeline’s third appearance in the 4A state title tilt since 2021. Additionally, a Cache Valley team has made it to the finals of this tournament every year since 2019, with the lone exception being the COVID-19 canceled season of 2020.
“Just to get to the semifinals is a big deal and (then) to play another valley team, that’s fantastic,” Ridgeline head coach Richard Alexander said. “It is such a great thing for our valley to have some teams always representing in these games.I think it’s so good for the valley and (GC head coach) Kirt (Sadler) has a really good squad, and he’s a great coach, so it was really good to be able to get both of our teams here.
