An Essex Wetherspoons pub has closed until the end of July while it gets refurbished. The Moon and Stars, located near Romford train station, started carrying out refurbishment works two weeks ago and will not be reopening until July 30. It comes after the pub, which underwent a £1.
1 million refurbishment in 2019, was forced to shut "for hours" last month. It was reported last month that the South Street Wetherspoons unexpectedly shut for a time on June 9 to facilitate maintenance work, however it has now shut once more. There are currently gates outside of the pub directing visitors to the nearest Wetherspoons in the area, in addition to letting them know when the pub will be reopening.

The building was erected in the inter-war years on the site of a detached Victorian house and its walled garden. Wetherspoons have been contacted about the reasoning for the closure.
