Three Lions supporters descended on the German city today to drink lager and chant ahead of the big game, arriving in the country by minibus, plane and ferry. Travelling fanatics went through their full repertoire of football anthems, singing 'please don't take me home' as they packed out bars in Gelsenkirchen's old town.
They engaged in numerous rounds of the chant, 'Eng-er-land, Eng-er-land, Eng-er-land' in scenes likely to be repeated throughout the weekend. As excitement for the first match mounted, supporters clinked glasses with German drinkers and waved England flags in the air. The party atmosphere was mirrored in neighbouring city Dusseldorf where some even poked fun at a number of Scottish fans after their country's 5-1 opening day loss to hosts Germany last night.
Gareth Southgate 's side will kick off their much-anticipated summer campaign in Gelsenkirchen tomorrow with an estimated 40,000 England fans expected to descend on the German city throughout t.
