An Inverness choir has raised more than £2,700 in aid of Highland Hospice at their weekend concert. The Christian choir Acclaim performed on Saturday (May 18) for their summer charity concert in front of an audience of around 500 people at the Free North Church. The 70-strong choir was accompanied by strings, flute, guitars, drumkit and led by Elaine Kirkham at the keyboard.
Ms Kirkham, who runs the choir, said it was a “super” concert. “The singers were in fine voice as they sang a good range of beautiful worship songs,” she said. “The audience was also treated to a wide range of pieces by excellent vocalists who sang duets, Malina Macdonald-Dawson and Aileen Thomson, Kirsty Campbell and Lynda Thompson.
“The concert was supporting the Highland Hospice and through an offering given on the night, £2,720 was given.” A video of part of the performance is available to watch on YouTube. Acclaim's next event will be their popular Christmas concert on Saturday, December 14.
Last year’s Christmas show, a regularly well-attended event, raised £3,800 for the Adopt a Child charityto support the building a fresh water well in a village in Guatemala..
