The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) on Wednesday sealed off several packaged water factories in Alimosho area of Lagos State. The closure followed the outcome of investigative inspections by the agency’s Investigation and Enforcement Directorate. NAFDAC revealed in a post on its official X handle (formerly Twitter) Wednesday evening.
According to the NAFDAC, “The factories were operating in untidy and unsafe environments, violating Good Manufacturing Practice regulations. “The inspections revealed that the unhygienic conditions of these factories posed serious health risks due to potential contamination by pathogenic microorganisms.” As a result, the agency said several factories were sealed for non-compliance with its regulations.

The agency stated, “The product does not comply with the Cosmetic Products Regulation as it is said to contain high concentration of Kojic Acid above allowable maximum concentration of 1% as concluded by the EU Scientific Committee on Consumer Safety (SCCS). “Although the .
