A person has died following an incident on the railway lines in Essex. British Transport Police officers were called to the lines between Stratford and Shenfield at around 5pm yesterday evening (May 30). It had been reported to the police that there was a casualty on the tracks near Stratford station.

Ambulance crews were also dispatched to the scene. Tragically despite their best efforts, one person was confirmed dead at the scene. Police have said they do not believe the incident is suspicious.

Railway lines between Stratford and the rest of Essex were closed yesterday evening while emergency services attended. Train services running through these stations may be cancelled, delayed or revised.

Disruption is expected until further notice." A spokesman for British Transport Police said: "British Transport Police received a report at 5pm yesterday (30 May) to a casualty on the tracks near Stratford station. Paramedics also attended however sadly a person was pronounced dead at the scene.
