PENNEYS has made a major store announcement in a "significant milestone" for the company - and fashion fans just have weeks left to wait. The popular discount retailer will open its new store in Bray, Co Wicklow . It will officially open on July 18, and is the company's first store in Wicklow.

The store is set to measure 19,600 square feet across one floor in Bray Central shopping centre. Head of Penneys Ireland and Northern Ireland Fintan Costello described the opening of this store in a new county as a significant milestone. With the addition of Bray, the company now has 38 stores across 21 counties in the Republic of Ireland.

It first opened on Mary Street in Dublin 55 years ago this summer. Across the UK and Europe, Penneys trades as Primark and has over 440 stores. Bray's new store is part of Penneys commitment to invest over €250m in Ireland over a 10-year period.

This includes the development, relocation and/or refurbishment of its stores across the country. The company has ambitions to reach 530 stores internationally by the end of 2026. Last month, Penneys entered its 17th market, after it opened its first store in Budapest in Hungary .
