Six-year-old Lucy Morgan was enjoying a family holiday at a lakeside home in the US earlier this month when tragedy struck . As she sat watching her siblings play a game of badminton, a racquet being used by her brother snapped, sending it ricocheting towards her head. Her parents were eating lunch nearby when their children's screams alerted them that something was wrong.

Jesse Morgan, a pastor and counsellor from the US state of New Jersey, regularly updates his blog, New Creation Living, with posts about theology, soul care and worship leading.

A recent post was about an upcoming sabbatical he was planning, which first took the family to a lakeside home in the US state of Maine. "We had an amazing lake cottage in Maine and were simply enjoying life together on our last full day here," he wrote.

"We were eating a quick lunch by the lake and the kids decided to try badminton in the front yard. Bethany and I were relaxing in the back when we heard screaming." Morgan said a "freak accident" .
