BALTIMORE — The Red Sox dropped their Monday afternoon contest to the Orioles in convincing fashion, losing 11-3 in the first game of a three-game set at Camden Yards. Cooper Criswell was shelled in just four innings of work, surrendering seven runs on six hits, which included a five-run avalanche in the righthander’s final frame. Cole Irvin, meanwhile, went five shutout innings for Baltimore, relinquishing just four hits while striking out six.
The Red Sox are 27-27. Julian McWilliams can be reached at julian.mcwilliams@globe.
