If you've been missing the tasty treats and delightful meals of Holy Transfiguration Greek Orthodox Church's Greek Festival, you're time has come. Greek Fest is returning at 11 a.m.
Saturday, albeit with some small changes. The Rev. Nichalas March says the congregation is excited to bring back the festival after a five-year hiatus.
"Our last festival was in 2019, and behaviors have changed. It's our first attempt at getting back to it, and we wanted to do it gently," he said. Rather than being staged on the grounds of the Orthodox Church, this year's festival will feature and a drive-thru service.
For $25 you'll receive 1/2 a Greek chicken, Greek green beans, manestra, Greek salad, bread and kourambiedes. If you're more interested in the bake sale, you'll find a sampler box for $15 that contains one piece of baklava, melomacarona, paximathia, koulourakia and kourambiethes. Additionally, there will be a half strip of baklava for $10,, melomacarona two for $5 and a half-dozen Greek cookies for $5 (paximathia, koulourakia, kourambiethes).
"This is something that we really want to offer back to the community and judge their response to it," he continued. "If we have good success, we'll build on it in the future." March said it is important to pick up tickets ahead of time, as the congregation and volunteers have a limited number of meals.
