According to a report by Muscat Daily, these new airports are expected to begin operations between 2028 and 2029. This significant expansion will increase the total number of airports in Oman to 13, enhancing the domestic aviation sector and boosting tourism.
Naif bin Ali al Abri, Chairman of Oman’s Civil Aviation Authority (CAA), highlighted the strategic importance of this project during his address at the Future Aviation Forum in Riyadh. He emphasized that the new airports will strategically enhance connectivity, particularly linking key industrial areas such as Sohar, Salalah, and Duqm. “Through this planned expansion, Oman aims to increase the number of airports in the country to 13, facilitating domestic aviation and bolstering tourism,” Al Abri stated.
