Years & Years is officially history as Olly Alexander confirmed his solo career with a three-word statement. The Dizzy singer held his first performance since taking part in the Eurovision contest earlier in May, 2024, as he joined BBC Radio 1's Big Weekend on Sunday (May 26) at Stockwood Park. Olly, 33, represented the UK at the Malmo Arena in Sweden and finished 18th overall after earning no points from the public for his performance.
Speaking to the Luton crowd on Sunday, however, Olly reassured his fans his disappointing score at the song contest wouldn't stop him from making a huge career move as he confirmed once again that boy band Years & Years would not be returning. "Do you know what this is my first ever show as Olly Alexander? I used to be in Years and Years, I used to be Years and Years and now I’m just me.
" Olly's participation in the Eurovision Song Contest was announced in mid-December 2023 with the singer admitting to the BBC he'd "wanted to do it for a while" and it "felt like this was the right time to start releasing music under my name." A stark contrast with his days in pop band Years & Years . The band was formed in 2010 by Mikey Gold.
