Chester “Chet” Adams CUMBERLAND – Chester “Chet” Adams, 81, of Cumberland passed away peacefully on June 25, 2024 with family by his side. He was born in Lewiston on Aug. 9, 1942, the son of the late Merle and Blanche Adams.
Chet attended Auburn schools, achieved being an Eagle Scout and graduated from Edward Little High School in 1960. After high school, he joined the United States Air Force and was appointed to the secret branch of the Security Service. There he served in Berlin Germany and one year in Alaska.
It was in Berlin, where he met the love of his life, Karin (who never saw him in uniform). They were joyfully married for nearly 60 years. After faithfully serving our country, Chet enrolled in Husson College and graduated in 1969, earning a degree in Accounting.
He was then recruited to work for Peat Marwick, a national accounting firm. It was there where he earned his CPA license in 1971. He later joined Sanborns Motor Express as Manager of Corporate Accounting for 15 years.
After working for Sanborns, Chet was asked to become a partner of North Star Communications in Cumberland. He also dabbled in real estate investing. Chet and his family spent their summers on Sebago Lake, first purchasing a camp and years later a beautiful home.
He loved sharing the lake with his friends and family, entertaining and grilling food for all. His generosity showed by teaching friends, his children, grandchildren and their friends how to waterski, jet ski, sail, and taking .
