The approximately 1,100-acre North Creek Fire located off North Spring Valley Road east of Lages Station, about 50 miles northeast of Ely, Nev., is 10-percent contained tonight with full containment anticipated by Sunday evening, July 14. Firefighters today established lines around the fire and hand crews and engines are improving those lines with the support of aerial water drops, as necessary.

The fire is burning in steep and rugged terrain, consuming pinyon-pine and juniper, brush, and grass. The potential threat to private property remains. Public and firefighter safety is the top priority.

Motorists are encouraged to use caution on North Spring Valley Road due to an increase in fire vehicle traffic. Assisting the BLM Elko, Ely and Southern Nevada districts are the Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest, Ely Ranger District, Nevada Division of Forestry and private contractors.
