Ryan Devlin (27), of Whitewell Grove in Newtownbbey, admitted stealing three pairs of trainers and a jacket worth a total of £449 from a Nike shop at The Junction in Antrim town on January 23 this year. He also pleaded guilty to aiding and abetting the theft of coats worth £1,000 stolen by another person from GO Outdoors at Valley Retail Park in Newtownabbey on February 29 this year. Devlin was the driver of a vehicle in which they made off from the scene.

Devlin appeared at Ballymena Magistrates' Court on June 6 via video link from prison. A defence barrister said the defendant who had a "quite extensive relevant record" was "deeply remorseful".
