A remaster of Twilight Princess is the least of the Zelda rumours at the moment, as fans try to guess what newly leaked codenames refer to. The PlayStation State of Play on Thursday night might have a been a disappointment but there is hope that this month’s various other showcases will offer a greater level of surprise and excitement. Ever since the end of E3 there’s been a proliferation of smaller ones, with over a dozen different events of various levels of visibility scheduled for June.
The biggest though are the Xbox Games Showcase , Summer Games Fest, Ubisoft Forward and, as the only event that doesn’t yet have a date, a new Nintendo Direct. There’s usually less that leaks out about Nintendo, compared to any other event, but sometimes there’s the odd rumour that turns out to be true and at the moment there’s an awful lot of talk about new Zelda games..
. Rumours of a remaster of Breath Of The Wild for the Switch 2 console have been around for months now and renewed recently with the leak of what is apparently the project’s codename. However, there’s also been talk of projects that may be for the current Switch, as a final release this year.
Before the pandemic, Nintendo was trying to release a new Zelda (and Mario) game every year, even if that just a minor spin-off or remaster. They’d no doubt like to get back to that and leaker PapaGenos has been hinting at some kind of new game in which Zelda is the main playable character – which is something Nint.
