Tuesday, May 28, 2024 A new study has revealed the areas in Canada with the highest percentage of mortgage-free homeowners, with Thunder Bay, Ontario taking the top spot. Online gambling experts at Casivoo analyzed 2021 data from Statistics Canada on the number of private households and their mortgage status. This included owners with a mortgage, owners without a mortgage, renters, and subsidized housing.
The areas with the highest percentage of mortgage-free homeowners were ranked accordingly. A spokesperson for Casivoo commented on the findings: “It’s interesting to see that a number of areas within Ontario dominate the top ten rankings. The locations in the lead ranking are perhaps more attractive to older homeowners who are more likely to have paid off their mortgage, hence why we are seeing the higher rates.
It’ll be interesting to see if new regions enter the top ten in the future.”.
