According to Israel’s Ministry of Tourism, as of August 1, the Electronic Travel Authorization Application (ETA-IL) will be mandatory for citizens of visa-exempt countries.

New Entry Requirements for Visa-Exempt Countries Traveling to Israel Starting this Saturday, travelers from the United States and Germany will need to apply for a new entry authorization that costs $7 and remains valid for up to two years or until the current passport expires. This requirement will extend to all visa-exempt countries on July 1. Travelers must secure this authorization at least 72 hours before booking flights and accommodations.
The ETA-IL system will initiate a pilot program on June 1, 2024, exclusively for American and German passport holders. This phase will allow voluntary applications without a fee.
