New owner Johnny Kolar said the restaurant space at 108 N. Broad St. will be turned into the Broad Street Tavern.

The Gelsosomo's Pizza that split the former Twincade space with True BBQ will stay open and continue to take orders, he said. Kolar said the new establishment would be both a restaurant and a bar. The new ownership is still putting together a menu, which may include small plates and American and Mediterranean cuisine.

True BBQ and Whiskey Bar first opened on Calumet Avenue in Munster in 2014, serving up smoked meats like like brisket, pork belly and duck, high-end whiskies and bespoke cocktails. It's owned by Progressive Dining Group, whose other restaurants include Gino's Prime & Surf, NISI Greek Taverna, Fiori, Bullpen Luxury Bar, True BBQ, Longshots Sports Bar, The Links, Public Bar & Rec, Cheese Almighty, Gelsosomo's Pizza and Riviera Maya. True BBQ grew to three locations but closed in downtown Crown Point last year and split its flagship Munster location in half with the dining side becoming Fiori Italian restaurant while the bar side remained True BBQ.

Coming soon Costas Restaurant Group bought the former Tony's Place space at 218 E. Lincolnway last fall after the longtime pizzeria closed after 68 years in business.
