More than 70 students from all grades at Nevada Union High School Choir will be performing in the spring concert titled, “Sing Across the Universe!” on Thursday, May 23 at 7 p.m. at the Don Baggett Theatre on the Nevada Union Campus.

The concert is expected to run for over two hours and has an intermission break. This performance showcases the well-known, high-level Chamber Choir, Concert Choir, Men’s Chorus, Miner’s Chorus, and Bel Canto singers. This is a culminating performance reflecting their learning a variety of songs, stage presence skills, and personal performance skills.

The performing arts give people the opportunity to learn how to be composed in the presence of others when eyes are “on” you and react to live situations and feedback from the audience. Performing arts are unique in building confidence for live situations for these young singers. They help create foundational lifelong skills.

The student performers are accompanied by well-known pianist Jonathan Steele, and other community volunteers. Rod Baggett, the renowned Choir Director, has some beautiful and fun songs planned. This performance is extra special because we will be bidding adieu to both our talented accompanist Jonathan Steele, and especially our long time amazing Choir Director and dedicated Educator Rod Baggett.

Rod has been with the Nevada Union Choirs since 1996—28 years! He has formed and shaped the Choir it is today, and has impacted thousands of students’ lives over those y.
