Netflix's brand new series, Buying London, has been plagued with savage reviews from critics. Some have even gone as far as to say it is "probably the most hateable TV show ever made." The new drama dropped on Netflix yesterday (May 22) and has already caused quite a stir.
The series itself follows property mogul Daniel Daggers as him and his team of agents at DDRE Global work in London's real estate sector. It is comparable to Netflix's Selling Sunset and Buying Beverly Hills, but it is filmed in London instead of the US. Viewers get to see some of the most luxurious properties in the likes of Mayfair and Holland Park.
But besides real estate, the show also explores Daniel and his team's personal lives. Within a day of the show's release, it has gotten plenty of people talking - but not necessarily for all the right reasons. Rebecca Nicholson of The Guardian was among those seemingly unimpressed.
"I usually love to gawp at rich people and their wallpaper," she said. "But this British version of the real-estate reality show Selling Sunset is tired, tone-deaf and shamefully crass. Watching it will work you up into a total rage.
" She added: "Buying London [is] probably the most hateable TV show ever made." Anita Singh’s two-star review in The Telegraph adds: "You wonder how many of these houses the team actually sell, because the production has such an air of unreality. "It’s post-truth television.
