A group of naked Brits filmed crawling on a bar in Portugal have caused authorities to hold an emergency meeting over tourist behaviour. The mayor of Albufeira, Portugal, has announced that he is determined to regulate the behaviour of tourists in bar areas following the identification of eight British men for dancing naked earlier in the month. In a video, that was shared on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter), viewers can see the men lined up, on their hands and knees, dancing naked on a bar.
The men also appeared to be simulating sexual positions, whilst the song 'A Lion Sleeps Tonight' featured in Disney's movie, The Lion King, played in the background at the bar on Rua da Oura — Algarve's party strip. Many locals have responded to the video branding the behaviour as "disgraceful", "disgusting" and "disrespectful". Have you witnessed Brits behaving badly abroad? Email us at webtravel@reachplc.
com After being filmed naked in broad daylight in the bar area, the National Republican Guard (NRG) identified the men, who are aged between 35 and 50 years old. The boozy behaviour demonstrated by the British tourists triggered an emergency meeting on June 19 called by the Municipality, with security forces and associations of the tourism sector present. The meeting set out to create a committee to establish a Code of Conduct that would see the regulation of tourist behaviour in Albufeira.
José expressed how he regrets that the image of Albufeira was becoming damaged .
