An organisation which brings Greater Manchester's Muslim and Jewish communities together has slammed 'aggressive behaviour' shown towards an election candidate in Prestwich . Jewish leaders condemned what they called 'unquestionably anti-Semitic' remarks made towards Rabbi Arnold Saunders, the Conservative candidate for Bury South, in a video shared online. The clip was filmed outside the Masjid Bilal Islamic Centre, on Bury Old Road.
Rabbi Saunders, a serving member of Salford City Council, had been invited to speak to members before being harangued and called a 'snake' in the video clip. The mosque has since apologised . Now, the Muslim Jewish Forum of Greater Manchester has condemned the actions of the individuals involved, and called on those responsible to be 'held to account'.
In a statement, the forum said: "The Executive Committee of the Muslim Jewish Forum of Greater Manchester was shocked and disgusted to see a video recording of Coun Rabbi Arnold Saunders receiving vitriolic verbal abuse at the Bilal Mosque in Prestwich this weekend.
