A Netflix series inspired the moniker, but others were not so impressed with a family member even calling it an "abomination". Ronni Lily, 27, and her partner, Brad, who hail from Birmingham, became parents to a baby boy on 20 January this year.
Just 16 weeks into the pregnancy the couple fell in love with a name and decided to call their son Lucifer, having taken inspiration from the titled series on Netflix. The parents faced a fierce backlash over choosing to call their son Lucifer, but Ronni has insisted it suits her baby boy perfectly. Even though Lucifer carries an endearing meaning - 'bearer of light' or 'Morning Star', it is most commonly linked to its infamous namesake - the devil.
Interestingly, this name is so controversial that it's been prohibited in several countries. Nevertheless, naming children Lucifer is legal in the UK, leading Ronni and Brad to face some rather heated reactions, reports the Mirror . Explaining their daring selection, Ronni explain.
