More info A single mum is bravely fighting pancreatic cancer and is now urging others to watch out for the deadly disease's warning signs. Claire Blair, 44, was given the devastating diagnosis in September 2022, following a six-month period of misdiagnosed symptoms after initially consulting her GP. The delay in correct diagnosis and crucial testing allowed the cancer to metastasise from her pancreas to her liver.

Claire faced the heart-wrenching moment of informing her two children, Thomas, 14, and Aimee, who will be 12 come July, about her condition. Currently working as an administrative coordinator, Claire hails from Inverkeithing, Fife, and is now sharing her story, detailing the early symptoms she experienced, with the hope that it might lead to early detection for others. "I first went to the GP in March 2022, I had a few symptoms then," Claire recounted.

"I was rapidly losing weight. I was doing Slimming World but at the time even if I ate junk for a whole week, I would still lose a lot of weight every week. "(I had) constipation as well as pains in my tummy.

That started that March and the doctor referred me straight away to a bowel specialist." Initial.
