Muireann O’Connell has been enjoying her holidays at a breathtakingly beautiful castle in Italy but it doesn’t come cheap. The Ireland AM presenter has said Elvira Castle in Puglia might just be the favourite place she has ever stayed. The stunning estate sits on 37 acres of exclusive private woodland, olive groves, citrus groves, and incredible Italian gardens.

According to the venue’s website: ‘The Castle and the Castle Cottage offer six individually styled and designed suites that can welcome a maximum of 13 guests. There are two stunning stone-clad pools and a large jacuzzi, all set in incredible Italian gardens that extend to a large, green, tranquil yoga and meditation area. ‘An on-site restaurant specialises in authentic home-cooked Pugliese cuisine and serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

‘The castle also has a private cinema, a private dining room for special occasions, and a superb roof terrace bar that opens every evening for you to witness the spectacular Salento sunsets.’ Sitting by the pool, Muireann was effusive in her praise for her getaway destination where she and her fiance — who she refers to as the ‘housemate’ — were initially the only guests. ‘I don’t quite know what to say about this place it is, I think, my favourite place I’ve ever stayed,’ Muireann said in a post on her Instagram Stories.
