Wednesday, June 5, 2024 The MTR Corporation (MTR) is pleased to announce a significant expansion of its high-speed rail network, effective June 15, 2024. This expansion includes the introduction of a new long-haul route to Hunan Province, providing direct access to six new destinations. Enhanced Connectivity to Hunan Province The new Hunan route will offer daily service to popular tourist destinations like Zhangjiajie and Fenghuanggucheng, along with Shaoyang, Huaihuanan, Dongkou, and Jishoudong.

This expansion strengthens business and leisure travel options between Hong Kong and Hunan Province, a region experiencing significant economic growth and tourism development. Increased Train Frequencies to Key Mainland China Destinations In addition to the new Hunan route, the MTR is implementing increased train frequencies between Hong Kong West Kowloon Station and several key destinations in mainland China. This includes Futian, Shenzhenbei, and Guangzhoudong stations, catering to the growing demand for efficient and convenient travel connections.

Specifically, service to Shenzhenbei Station will increase from 146 trains per day to 159, with an additional 15 trains operating on Saturdays. Similarly, Futian Station will see an increase from 97 to 106 daily trains.
