JONESBORO — The Mt. Zion High School Marching Bulldog Band had a July 4 weekend to remember as they marched in the National Independence Day Parade in Washington, D.C.

“Our band has always been a source of pride for our school and community, but their participation in this prestigious event truly showcased their exceptional abilities and hard work,” said Mt. Zion Principal Kimberly Grant. “The experience of marching in the Independence Day Parade was not only a significant achievement for our band but also an invaluable opportunity for our students to represent our school and community.

” Grant added that the band performed with a level of professionalism and enthusiasm that was commendable. “I am so proud of the Mount Zion High School Band, its members, its leadership, and its supporters,” said Clayton County Board of Education Chair Jessie Goree said. “They have distinguished their organization through their performance and their demeanor.

Congratulations on such a successful performance.” Under the direction of Band Director Terrell Mitchell, the Marching Bulldogs have earned acclaim for their performances and musicianship. The band has grown in numbers as well — from eight to more than 40 members in the past two years.

“I also offer my congratulations to this outstanding group of students, educators, and community stakeholders for representing our school district and Clayton County in such an amazing fashion,” said Dr. Anthony W. Smith, CCPS Superin.
