FROM A VOLUNTEER I am one of the Friends of Kings Park and a volunteer in the gardens and the bush since 2013. I enjoy working in the field because it is one of very few natural bush parks located in the centre of a city in the world. We volunteers work willingly and hard to help in preserving its integrity as a place where people can learn firsthand of the wonders of natural Australian bush.
To put little cabins anywhere in the park would be sacrilegious! It cannot add beauty to the park in any way. It can only stand as an example of the greed of persons and organisations whose heartless exploitation of the park’s integrity can do only lasting irreversible damage. It is very important that there are no inroads being made into what has been often described as WA’s “Jewel in the Crown”. Many people have tried to take over parts of the park for commercial and other projects but each has been opposed by people who have a genuine interest in preserving the vision of our forefathers for present and future generations. Please get rid of the cabins.
I am appalled at the way yet another commercial interest has, with the cabins, tried to erode the people’s interest for their own gain. If they wanted to do something different, they should try the Supreme Court Gardens as this would be only slightly less ridiculous. Please excuse the sarcasm.
