The Lavender Apple will hold its third annual Lavender Festival Friday, July 12, 11 a.m. to 9 p.
m. and Saturday, July 13, from 10 a.m.
to 6 p.m. at 510 E 300 S in Millville.
Admission is free and the festival includes artisan vendors, live music, food trucks and free wagon rides. According to owners Beth and Blake Downs, the family will be selling their handmade lavender products at one of the booths. People can also pay to pick their own bundle of lavender.
The Downs will also be making fresh lavender lemonade to sell, which Beth said is generally popular. “The event has grown every year,” said Beth. “Last year there were about 4,000 people, which is double how many there were the first year.
” To prepare, the Downs are planning to make 900 gallons of lemonade. “So people better come by and get themselves some lemonade.” This is the Downs' third year hosting the lavender festival.
Blake said they would like to make the festival a community tradition. “Our mission statement is to share light and love with lavender,” said Beth. “That’s what this festival is about.
” Beth said the location is beautiful, and the festival goes until dusk Friday so people can watch the sunset over the fields. The farm is at the end of a one-lane private dirt road. Because parking at the farm is limited, there will be free parking at Millville South Park at 510 E 300 S.
Guests then walk a short distance across a field to the festival. Free handicap and $5 parking right next to t.
