Michael Palin has laughed off John Cleese's claim that he's "boring", joking that he is going to "bask" in it. Fawlty Towers star John recently made the comment about Michael during a chat on Zoe Ball's Radio 2 Breakfast Show. Zoe had asked after John's Monty Python co-stars, and he responded to say that Michael was "sweet, kind, slightly boring".

Michael, 81, was quizzed about it during an appearance on ITV's , and made it clear he wasn't bothered. It was brought up by host , who mentioned Michael's new travel show that saw him visit Nigeria and said it was hardly a boring thing to do. "Your old teammate from Monty Python, John Cleese, has put it out there that he thinks you are a boring old man!" he exclaimed.

But Michael joked: "Oh well, John is scintillating, we all know that." "It's in his passport," he laughed, as Ben and his co-host giggled. The star went on to explain that he was more than happy with the lane he was in.

"I really enjoy playing boring characters," he said. "I have done a few." Talking about his Python days, he told Ben and Cat: "I always played the boring character but John couldn't have done without me.
