Marisol Lopez , a fashion design major at the University of North Texas, is among the artists selected for Meow Wolf Grapevine's Trashion Show, part of the immersive art experience venue's one-year anniversary celebration. A select group of designers and creators will work to transform discarded materials into works of wearable art. The show on July 11 will feature the theme “Celebrate.
” Designers in the show will be working to balance aesthetics and environmental impact to emphasize the importance of environmentally friendly practices in the fashion industry. “Our Trashion Show is all about celebrating eco-friendly creative expression,” Kelly Schwartz, general manager of Meow Wolf Grapevine, said in a news release. “We’re excited to challenge conventional fashion norms and show just how amazing repurposed materials can look on the runway.
” The Trashion Show event has been popular at Meow Wolf's Denver and Santa Fe locations, Meow Wolf said, but this will be its first experience in Texas. Along with Lopez, the exhibit will feature artists eight other artists: Elsie Garcia, Ghostgrl Studio x Cliffside Flowers, Jamie Kulikowski, Megan Stoner, Nadia Velasquez, T. Fawn (Tuongvan Phan) and VALO WEAR (Ben Arevalo).
