MEDINA, Ohio – Council has given the green light to a new developer to join the Joint Economic Development District the city shares with Montville Township. Council approved legislation June 8 approving the petition of developer LTC Montville LLC to join the JEDD. Economic Development Director Kimberly Marshall said the property in question is located at 6045 Wooster Pike Road in Montville Township and the developer has plans to construct a 71,000 square-foot, 99-bed nursing facility.
“This is a $17 million investment and will create 120 new jobs with a little over $6 million in payroll,” Marshall said. The JEDD was formed to allow the township to collect income tax revenue from businesses that are part of the district. Under the JEDD agreement, the income tax revenue is split between the city and the township.
Council approved the legislation with an emergency clause as the developer needs to apply for state licenses for the beds that will be at the facility. Also during the meeting, City Engineer Patrick Patton announced that the West Smith Road construction project is almost complete. “We are hoping to open the road to all traffic the week of July 22,” he said.
“We thank everyone for their patience as we completed this project.” Patton also said that the city’s concrete street repair program began July 8. “Workers will be replacing concrete throughout the city,” he said.
“We will start in the northwest corner of the city and then continue in a clockwi.
