MCCOOL JUNCTION — For the third year in a row, Junction Pizza held an annual Father’s Day lunch. The meal, as it has the past two years, consisted of pizza, beverages, sides and the main attraction: fresh Maine lobster. Joe Clark removes a lobster from the pot during Junction Pizza’s lobster lunch on Father’s Day.
This is the third time the restaurant has hosted the lunch. How does fresh Maine lobster get to McCool Junction, Nebraska? The answer has something to do with the co-owner of Junction Pizza, who has made a journey not so different from the Maine lobsters the restaurant he helped serve on Sunday, June 16. Joe Clark did not come from Maine to Nebraska overnight, as the lobsters did on their journey from Jess’s Market in Rockland, Maine to Junction Pizza in McCool.
According to Katie Wiggin from Jess’s Market, the lobsters are caught off the coast of Maine, packed up in styrofoam, shipped overnight with Fedex and are out of their boxes in Nebraska in less than 24 hours. Rather, Clark, made a number of other stops along the way: Norway, Texas, Kansas and Gretna (Nebraska) to name a few. The Clark family on Father's Day, missing the eldest daughter, Sydnie.
