Birth: 1934 Death: 2024 We lost a treasured soul in the peaceful passing of Marilyn Sue Rouda on June 9, 2024 Born in Kansas in 1934, Sue grew up in Cottonwood Falls and Cedar Point, small towns with dusty roads and tight-knit communities. A proud tomboy, Sue was always running barefoot and playing baseball or tag with the boys. After graduating high school in Wichita, she moved with her mother to San Francisco, joining her grandmother near Stonestown.
While attending San Francisco City College, she started modeling and quickly rose to be one of the top models in the City, eventually teaching modeling to San Francisco society women at the famed House of Charm.She was introduced to her soulmate, Ronald Rouda, through a mutual friend. They had their first date at Tosca in North Beach on Valentine’s Day 1963, and were married later that year.
In 1965 they moved from San Francisco to Tiburon before finding their dream home on the Belvedere lagoon. Their home, where they raised their daughters Davia and Meika, was the epicenter of lagoon life with an open door policy for all the neighborhood kids. Sue’s success in modeling turned into a flair for fashion.
She co-founded the clothing store, Secret Hang-Ups, which she franchised in 1975. Sue also produced musical theater for the Tiburon Pelican Players, a beloved community theater troupe whose satirical renditions of Broadway musicals were legendary.Her trailblazing spirit led her to explore the human potential movement in the l.
