Digital manga platform Manga Plus by Shueisha has achieved over 28 million downloads since its launch five years ago in January 2019. To celebrate the achievement, a limited time feature has been added which will allow readers to support manga creators by watching ads. The feature is available in nine languages and available worldwide.

Here is how it works: After reading a chapter on the Manga Plus app, you will receive a prompt to watch an ad. When you watch it, a portion of the revenue goes directly to the manga creator. “We are thrilled to have reached 28 million downloads and are incredibly grateful to our dedicated user base,” said deputy editor-In-chief Momiyama.

“Manga creators put their everything into creating manga with the help of editors. However, it’s only because of the fans that we can continuously create new stories. With this new feature, users can watch an ad to support their favourite manga creator.

We hope that this new feature will allow users to connect more with our platform, and have their voices heard by the manga creators and editors in Japan.” Got any news tips, or want to discuss a possible story?
