York police have identified the shopping centre. Police continue to scour the mall parking lot near on Wednesday morning, as York officers combed the south side of the parking lot with metal detectors and cameras, searching underneath each vehicle, looking for evidence that may have been left behind. On Tuesday at around 5:30 p.
m., police responded to reports a woman was injured after being shot in the parking lot of Vaughan Mills mall. She was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries, police say, where she was later pronounced dead.
The victim has been identified as Alisseaha Golar-Kotlar, 21, from Hamilton. Two men have been charged in her death. Two men from Brampton have been charged, one with first-degree murder and the other with accessory after the fact, after a woman was killed Tuesday at Vaughan Mills mall.
Courtney-Ashton Brooks, 23, from Brampton is charged with first-degree murder. Donte Morris Taylor, a 22-year-old also from Brampton, has been charged with accessory after the fact to murder. Police say the relationship between the two accused and the victim isn’t known at this time, but believe the three people knew each other.
Detectives told the Star it’s unclear whether or not the scene is the result of a carjacking, but four vehicles were seen surrounded by police tape on Wednesday as forensics officers paid extra attention to the debris underneath. Speaking to reporters on Tuesday, a store owner at a fashion retail shop nearby said he was unaware.
