A man and a woman have been arrested in connection with the fatal explosion at a service station which claimed the lives of 10 people in 2022. Four men, three women and three children, were killed in the blast on the afternoon of Friday, October 7 in the village of , including 14-year-old Leona had been choosing an ice-cream from the freezer before a sleepover with friends when the fatal explosion took her life. The schoolgirl was “a little lady with a big heart” and a “little miracle,” said her mum in a tribute read at her funeral.

The tribute for the "massive LFC fan", read out by Father Carney, went onto her love of sport, saying: “I won’t hold this against her, was her team.” A two year investigation has been ongoing following the death of Leona and the nine other people who tragically lost their lives. Police investigating the explosion said the man and woman were arrested on Monday for alleged offences contrary to the Non-Fatal Offences Against the Person Act 1997. Both are currently being questioned at separate garda stations in Co Donegal, PA reports.
