ANOTHER popular holiday hotspot is considering banning tourism as locals admit that they have "reached their limit". Binibeca Vell in on the island of Minorca is the latest Spanish hot spot looking to implement new rules for tourists. The popular costal town in Spain’s Balearic Islands are set to vote later in the summer on whether to ban tourists completely.

The town is popular due to it's striking resemblance to Greek island Mykonos identifiable by its whitewash buildings. Binibeca Vell has even been nicknamed "the Spanish Mykonos" as it is made up of similar buildings. For the 200 local residents of the town, the 800,000 tourists who visit each year to take in the beautiful sights are becoming "too much." Oscar Monge, who runs the local residents group, said the local community are becoming tired of the excessive tourism in the area. "We don't have anything against tourism, but sometimes it feels like we're living in Disneyland Paris." Talking about signs asking residents to be quiet and considerate Oscar said they had to put them "everywhere." He explained: "We have put these up everywhere.
