Local artist Peter Anderson (Ando) has painted 100,000 saltbush, 20,000 trees, 20,000 small stones, 1000 large stones, 3000 clouds, 1500 hills and 12 sculptures, which comprise The Big Picture, billed as the world’s largest acrylic painting on canvas by a single artist. Day Dream Mine Wend through the Apollyon Valley, over a hill, and there’s the smelter built by the Daydream Mining Association and used by Broken Hill, way back when there were 500 people in town. Visitors can go underground through three levels, and see the very small drives (tunnels) that miners dug by hand.
