Saturday, July 13, 2024 London Gatwick hosted its first work experience week for 28 local school students, offering insights into careers, essential skills, and sustainability initiatives. For the first time, a group of 28 local school students participated in a work experience program at London Gatwick. During the week of July 8-12, the students focused on exploring early career opportunities at the airport, understanding the importance of essential workplace skills, and learning how to support a more sustainable future.
London Gatwick welcomed students aged 14-15 from every secondary school in Crawley. They developed communication skills, created group presentations, and attended panel discussions featuring employees from various airport departments, including marketing, airline development, finance, and passenger operations. Beyond workplace and life skills, the students, representing eight local schools, were given behind-the-scenes tours of the airport.
These tours included visits to the airfield, fire station, and terminals. Emphasizing sustainability, the students also participated in a biodiversity session, which featured a habitat talk and a seed bomb workshop.
