Efforts to sort out the parking mess at a have only led to more bedlam, say irritated locals. Y Glyn, known as "the lagoons" by Llyn Padarn in Llanberis, has had a major facelift in recent weeks to fit in 114 car spots and an "Arosfan" for campervans - but it's turned into a giant campsite instead. Cyngor Gwynedd Council's plan was to bring some order to the swamped spot, but instead the site has been hit with numerous problems including ticket machines that don't work and height barriers failing to operate consistently.

This meant that just two weeks ago 95 campervans slept over in the spaces, with plenty of tents popping up, despite not being allowed. locals are bracing for another round of chaos at their leisure site as they are forced to handle the mess left in visitors wake, with more rubbish and fears of finding human poo, leaving volunteer litter pickers with a nasty clean-up job. As well as the environmental impact, the site has also had a knock on effect on local campsites in the area, as bosses from Llanberis to Caernarfon are lamenting a drop in visitors thanks to the nearby "free campsite".

One fed-up owner blasted: "This is ruining local family businesses! ", clocking 10 fewer bookings than usual last weekend. Locals are adamant they're not against visitors but are pleading with Cyngor Gwynedd to get a grip on the tourist tidal wave. The council has clapped back, promising that a security firm will be back on patrol this summer to keep an eye on things during pea.
