Will Smith is making a musical comeback , having performed at the 2024 BET awards on Sunday night in Los Angeles, California. The actor and rapper had an on-stage debut for his new gospel-inspired song You Can Make It , featuring Fridayy and the Sunday Service Choir with an appearance by Kirk Franklin. Smith previously made a surprise appearance at the Coachella music festival earlier this year, performing alongside J Balvin for the song Men in Black .

At the start of the BET performance, Smith said, "I don't know who needs to hear this right now, but whatever's going on in your life, I'm here to tell you, you can make it." In the new song, he raps: "The darker the hell you gotta endure / The brighter the heaven you get to enjoy / The harder the fall, the higher you soar / God opens a window when the devil closes the door / Believe me, they tried to bleed Will Smith / In the rearview, I see adversity was the gift / To lift me higher gifts requires faith." Smith has mostly released collaborations with other artists over recent years, like the songs Light Em Up with Sean Paul for the new Bad Boys movie, Will with Joyner Lucas, Está rico with Marc Anthony and Bad Bunny, etc.

Smith dropped his last album, Lost and Found , in 2005..
