Protect downtown views of the Flatirons I am writing to express my strong opposition to the proposed construction of the 55-foot-tall, 5-story building proposed by the St. Julien in the area previously dedicated to the expansion of the Civic Use Area. This project threatens to obstruct the view of the Flatirons on the last piece of open space downtown.

As a lifelong resident of Boulder, an animal lover, interior designer, humanitarian and a dedicated environmentalist, I am deeply concerned about the implications of this development on our community’s heritage and natural beauty. Being born and raised in Boulder, I have a profound connection to our city’s unique landscape. The Flatirons are not merely a backdrop; they are a defining feature of our identity, a source of inspiration, and a daily reminder of the natural beauty that makes Boulder special.

The view of these majestic mountains from the Civic Area is cherished by our residents and visitors alike. In my professional capacity as an interior designer for 30 years, I understand the importance of preserving aesthetic values and enhancing natural beauty through thoughtful planning. The proposed 60,000 sq ft, 55-foot building starkly contrasts with these principles.

It not only exceeds the current building code height limit of 38 feet in the downtown Boulder area, set precisely to protect the mountain views, but it also undermines the visual harmony and integrity of the Civic Use Area. I urge the Planning Board to rejec.
