Letitia Wright is insisting that she has no ties to The Daily Wire and distanced herself from the right-wing platform’s involvement in her recently-produced film, “Sound of Hope: The Story of Possum Trot.” Wright — who serves as an executive producer on “Sound of Hope” — took to social media Saturday to note that Angel Studios, a producer of Christian-themed movies like “Sound of Freedom,” was initially brought on board to distribute the film prior to partnering with The Daily Wire’s streaming service. “That was not my decision, and I was not given an update or made aware of this decision,” wrote the “Black Panther” star, who added that she’s “in no way aligned or affiliated” with the right-wing platform.
“I am thankful for all who want to positively champion this film and campaign to serve children. However, I do not condone using this beautiful film for divisive political purposes. That is not why I joined the project.
” The Peacetree Productions film, which hit theaters last week, is inspired by the story of Bishop W. C. Martin and Donna Martin leading an effort to adopt 77 children in East Texas.
