Join Left Voice as we struggle to build a working-class party that fights for socialism. On June 1, in the middle of Brooklyn’s beautiful Prospect Park, dozens of activists and militants of all backgrounds gathered to discuss beneath a large red tent adorned with keffiyehs and Pride flags. Among those gathered were students from Brooklyn College, Hunter College, NYU, and the New School, alongside workers organizing with CUNY on Strike.
There were students and young workers who have opened their eyes to the struggle for a Free Palestine. They are part of the growing anti-imperialist generation in the heart of the empire. These New York City students and workers were also joined by a contingent of activists from New Jersey many of whom participated in the encampment at Rutgers University.
University professors and intellectuals like Sherry Wolf also attended. Amazon workers fighting for their labor rights joined the discussion as well, as did Starbucks Workers— who have fought for months to connect their union struggle to the Palestinian liberation. Also participating were healthcare workers who are organizing in their workplaces and with groups like Healthcare Workers for Palestine.
Education workers also joined the gathering. In the midst of these discussions covering worker power, imperialism, queer liberation, free Palestine, socialism, and much more our comrade Tatiana — a CUNY adjunct and member of both CUNY4Palestine and CUNY on Strike — spoke to the gathered mil.
