Darlene Regis The ‘Eid Al-Adha Family Day’ of KulinaryaQatar, in collaboration with Eventive Management, successfully concluded last week with a mega series of events. The programme was held in conjunction with the 126th Philippine Independence Day (PID) and Philippine Food Festival 2024. The festivities were held from June 14 to 16 at Al-Arabi Sports Club.
It was a three-day event featuring a talent search, beauty contest, fashion show, and other activities as follows: Kasambahay Got Talent KulinaryaQatar and Salamat Team composed of Elite, FHD, KKHQ, and Batarisan Filipino organisations, kicked off its PID 2024 programme with the first-ever ‘Kasambahay Got Talent’ (KGT) search on June 14. It was a talent competition for Filipino ‘kasambahays’ (domestic helpers) or Overseas Filipino Workers (OFW) based in Qatar. Yvonne Labitad was crowned as KGT’s 1st Grand Winner.
The 37-year old OFW, from Mindanao North Cotabato, said on social media, “I just tried to catch up with the audition although it was already late for me to join. I failed to attend some rehearsals and I felt like giving up, but the organisers motivated me to continue what I started.” Labitad, whose talent is singing, advised her fellow kasambahays to have more courage and patience in their field of work.
“I joined KGT so I can show my talent apart from being a kasambahay. We also have dreams in life and this competition is a big help for me and my family. In this way, I could meet my fellow Fil.
