She is survived by her husband David and her two children Kyle and Heather.Kim was born on June 4th, 1956, in Perth Amboy, New Jersey to Elsie and Tom Thompson.
She grew up with her brother Tom in Spotswood, New Jersey where she excelled in her studies and social life. After graduating from Rutgers University in 1978 with a degree in Computer Science, she moved to San Francisco with her lifelong girlfriends, where she completed further studies in Broadcast Media Communications at San Francisco State University. During her adventures in the City, she soon met her husband David while attending a WHO concert.
Their friendship quickly grew into a lifelong love, and they were wed on Valentines Day, 1986. Kim loved her adopted City of San Francisco and lived in Polk Gulch, Pacific Heights and then Potrero Hill before moving to Mill Valley to raise her family where she resided with her husband and son up until her passing. Kim was an esteemed employee for the City and County of San Francisco in the Department of Technology for 38 years.
Kim’s dedication, intellect, and compassion progressed her career to the position of Principal of IS Engineering. She loved her work and encouraged women to enter and succeed in technical fields. She stayed in contact with many coworkers, socializing and enjoying their company until .
