Ciara Kennedy, forest school teacher, farmer and marketer at Nurney Organic Farm, photographed in Carbury by Aoife Long for the Mother Project A Kildare woman is among those who have taken part in a project celebrating a new generation of mothers in Ireland. Photographers Aoife Long and Marta Rodríguez García embarked on an inspiring journey across Ireland to capture the essence of a new generation of mothers for the Mother Project. Traveling through picturesque landscapes and vibrant communities, they sought to document the profound and varied experiences of motherhood.
Their journey led them to connect with mothers from diverse backgrounds, each with a unique story to tell. Ciara Kennedy, forest school teacher, farmer and marketer at Nurney Organic Farm, was photographed in Carbury, Co Kildare by Aoife for the project. Aoife and Marta captured intimate and powerful moments that reflect the beauty, strength, and vulnerability of mothers as they navigate the transformative journey from maiden to mother.
The photographs capture mothers in their favourite woods, beaches, fields and homes across Ireland. “Maternity photography has become the new wedding photography. It is an honour to capture the ultimate love story,” said Aoife.
“The vast majority of mothers featured in the project have returned home to Ireland to give birth at home. With them, they have brought stories of deep joy, unimaginable loss, transformative birth and full trust. “It is a profound privilege .
